Forum: television Subject: TV shows on 16mm availability to public pre-home video

In the 1999 film, Blast From the Past, one of the characters is watching an episode of The Honeymooners in 1962 while living in a fallout shelter. Were 16mm films available of shows back then to the general public? I know the shows were syndicated by then. and that short films like silent comedies were available to buy, but whole sound TV shows? How many were available to buy and which shows?
